My Shiny New Job...

Well, today was my first day with Consolidated Services Inc. and boy was it enlightening...Okay so here's the scoop...
We are the people who keep the 16th street mall cleaned up, thus making people, people with money, feeling comfortable being on the 16th street mall, so they'll spend it.
There seem to be major hurdles and downright landslides in that theory due to some of the foolish things that they, the 16th street mall vendors/stores, etc...Do.
First thing I noticed, as the night progressed, you get to see less and less mall security. Now stop me if I'm wrong but isn't when the sun goes down when all the bad people come out? I can assure you all the crazy ones do! The place has so many bad musicians clanging away and screeching foul noise into the air that even the children are horrified!
Homeless people seem to be nice enough anyway, but if you don't chase these people away then the spending customers will absolutely go away! You can't walk 12 feet without being panhandled or smoke bummed.
The mall owners or whatever consortium they have have definitely made some bad decisions, ie: not enough security, PROVIDING Pianos so these drunk Chopin's can bash out an off tune train wreck as onlookers stare in utter amazement! If you want to have live music than for the love of God man HIRE someone who can actually play!
Oh and one more thing...I am a smoker, have been for over 25 years, don't care if you like it, I won't put it in your face so you stay the hell outta' mine! HOWEVER! I am very VERY disappointed in my fellow smokers! Look here people...pick up your cigarette butts! Yeah it IS littering! In a 2 block spam on the 16th street mall, in 8 hours, I certainly picked up 200,000 cigarette butts! Completely Ridiculous!
I'm honestly not sure which is going to kill me first, the constant non stop walking for 8 straight hours or simply the boredom.
The most exciting thing to happen tonight was about 150 people came jogging through, like a marathon...I looked up and saw a mass of people running towards me and was immediately alarmed! In this post 9/11 world when a large body of people are running in one direction...probably a good idea to join them! It was definitely a different first day experience than I have ever had..
Now, please don't misunderstand me, I am so glad to have a job and I am in no way disgruntled, or disappointed, but I am just me...the kind of guy who notices stuff like this and just feels the need to put it down on paper, so to speak. I'm kind of looking forward to tomorrow just to see what craziness is going to come hurdling toward me.
